Editorial policy
Our aim is to make careful, readable writing about comedy, with clear distinctions between what can be described and what is a matter of interpretation.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check names, titles, dates and other factual details against reliable material available to us before publication. Interpretations are presented as readings, not settled facts. When a point is uncertain or contested, we say so rather than smoothing over the distinction.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions remain separate from partnership arrangements. We do not promise favourable coverage in exchange for support. If a reader identifies a substantive error, we review the claim and correct confirmed mistakes, making the change clear where appropriate.
Partner material
Any paid, gifted or otherwise partner-supported material is labelled clearly so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. A partner does not approve or control our conclusions.
Illustrations
Some illustrations may be AI-generated. Where that applies, we identify the illustration accordingly; images are not presented as documentary evidence of a real performance or event.
A laugh can travel further than its moment.
Comedy changes as audiences change. We look closely at what a work asks us to notice, while leaving space for different readings.
